PC DEVICE CONFIGURATION
Connecting and configuring a game device to a pc
Wired devices
1. Most wired devices for a PC will require a USB cable to connect to the computer, however some older devices might require a Ps2 port. A high quality headset will require a USB connection as well as a mic jack connection.
2. Check the condition of the cable before installing the device, if the wire is damaged it could cause damage to yourself or to the PC. 3. It is important to check whether the device is compatible with your operating system, most modern devices are compatible with the more modern operating systems, but not an older system. An old device might not be able to work on a new operating system. To check read the manual of the device, or check online. 4. Insert the USB device into a free USB slot, it does not matter if it is at the front or the back of the PC, however it is best to install devices that are always used at the back of the PC so you do not have to worry about wasting slots that are use a lot at the front. It also doesn't matter if the PC is on to install a USB device, it is perfectly safe to plug in a USB device if the PC is on. 5. Once the device is installed the operating system should automatically install the software needed to make the device function for the PC. To verify this there should be a message that pops up on your task bar stating that the device has installed. If there is no message and your device doesn't work you may have to check for a driver online. If that doesn't work your device may be damaged. If you can now use the device you are good to go! |
wireless devices1. Installing a wireless device is a very similar process to installing a wired one. A wireless device will still have a USB port but the USB cable will be connected to a receiver, this receiver then sends it's information to the main device. To install the USB receiver follow steps 1-5 for a wired device. For some wireless devices it will automatically pair, if your device has paired you are done! If not continue to step 2.
2. Once the device is installed it will need to be synchronized to the device. Both devices will have a pairing button, press the button on both the receiver and the device and the devices should be paired! |
