To connect the controller to the console it is important to make sure that both the console and the controller is on. It is also important to make sure the controller has the power pack installed correctly and that the batteries are installed. On the power pack you can see instructions on how to insert the AA batteries you need. Once the controller has batteries installed press and hold the center button until it turns on.

The Xbox Kinect is a wired device, this means it has to be connected directly to the console, the Kinect does not need its own power supply as the Xbox will power the Kinect directly.

All that is required is to plug in the sensor cable of the Kinect into the AUX port in the back of the console. As seen here.
Once connected correctly the Xbox will update it self to support the new firmware of the Kinect. This will happen the first time the console is turned on with the Kinect installed. It will then come up with some on screen prompts for you to follow, follow the on-screen tutorial and you will have the Kinect successfully installed.
