Setting up a PC can be a more complex process than setting up a console, depending on whether you need to build the PC or simply buy it pre-built. This tutorial will mainly be focusing on setting up a pre-built machine as there are tutorials on how to install the separate parts of a PC elsewhere.
The PC
1. Display

At the back of the PC you will see a VGA a HDMI or a DVI port. It is important to have a monitor that has the same ports as your PC. These ports on the PC can be either found on the output panel, or if the PC has a graphics card it can be found there. If the PC does not have the same ports you may have to buy an adapter.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE ADAPTER IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE PORTS OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET NO DISPLAY. RESEARCH THIS THOROUGHLY BEFORE PURCHASING

Connect the VGA/HDMI/DVI cable to the port at the PC and to your monitor. Some PCs support multiple monitors but you will have to check whether your graphics card is able to display them.
2. Keyboard and mouse
Looking at the back of the PC again you will see several USB ports as well as Ps2 ports, these ports are perfect for adding the keyboard and mouse as well as any other USB devices such as printers and controllers. To install these simply insert the USB/Ps2 input into the correct port. Once the PC is on it will automatically register these devices and install the needed drivers for them so you can use them.
3. Power

To give life into your machine you will need to connect it to the mains outlet using the power supply cable. Once this has been completed you will need to connect the other end to the power supply. Once this has been done your power supply might have a switch on it, switch it on and then turn the PC on. It should now boot up!
4. Operating System
If your Pc already has an operating system you can begin using your computer! If not, you will need to install an operating system. To install an operating system you will need to insert the operating disc into the optical drive, the computer will then begin running the installation for that os, follow the on-screen tutorial and you should have your PC set up!
